On October 27, 2018, on the basis of the Nazarbayev University and the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, the quarter-finals of the ACM ICPC World Team Programming Championship among student teams of Kazakhstan were held. n total, they were attended by 130 teams from universities of the country, representing various regions of the republic. Within 5 hours, teams were asked to solve 11 problems. The verification of tasks was carried out by an independent test system, excluding the intervention of the “subjective factor”. The team of Kostanay State University named after A. Baitursynov was represented by students of the specialty 5В070400 - Computer Science and Software - Kulmakhan Razaman, Manakov Yaroslav and Tulegenov Tasbolat, the head of the team - Galikhanov SG. ACM ICPC Student Team World Programming Championship is the largest international competition for university students from around the world. Such competitions provide an opportunity to interact with students from other educational institutions, perfecting and demonstrating their skills in solving algorithmic problems, programming and working in a team.
From 11th to 15th of September 2017, Joachim R. Daduna – German professor, Dr., of Wismar University of Applied Sciences: Technology, Business and Design visited Akhmet Baitursynov Kostanay State University with guest lectures within the framework of the program ERASMUS + project "Development and implementation of the master program" Green Logistics Management": Building Trans‐Eurasian Accessibility through Sustainable Logistics Management and ICT Competence LogOn-U". The themes of the lectures are "Mobility and economic development; Transport modes; Multimodal transport; Logistics corridor planning; Future developments in transport and logistics" with duration of 20 hours. The target audience was academic staff, students, undergraduates of Akhmet Baitursynov Kostanay State University and Rudny Industrial Institute. The aim of the course was introducing to logistics on the examples of road, railroad, pipeline, water and air transport. All listeners got invaluable experience, academic staff - knowledge, skills, and techniques of teaching. At the end of the seminar all listeners received certificates.
In May 2017, lecturers Saule Znabayeva and Yuliya Shandetskaya from Foreign Philology Department participated in English for Specific Purposes Training provided within DIREKT ERASMUS+ project, whichis aimed at developing information literacy and promoting lifelong learning. Beijing Institute of Technology (China) hosted the training for university-partners from Ireland, Germany, Slovakia, China, Russia and Kazakhstan. The main focus of the ESP training was on such aspects as multicultural communication, academic writing and research methodology. Didactic and scientific working group meeting resulted in development of action plan for implementation of the project, the first step of which will be teaching English (A1-A2) to librarians of university-partners and other institutions. It is projected that the English language course (A1-A2) for librarians at A. Baitursynov Kostanay State University will start in September 2017. 
On April 17, 2017, the contest «The best in the profession - programmer» was organized by the software department for students of 5В070400 - Computers and software specialty within the month of methodological innovation at the Faculty of Information Technology. The leading experts of the companies «ITL.KZ» LLP and «PROFI ESСORT» LLP were invited as the jury.   The main objectives of the competition were: the quality improvement of professional training, identification and support of creative abilities and interests of students. At the competition, the students presented the ready-made projects - business card websites, online stores, databases, computer games, mobile applications, as well as complex projects. Students defended their projects in English, Russian and Kazakh. The jury noted the high training of students and selected the projects-winners: 1st place - Viktoriya Ivanova. The topic of the project: Development of online mobile phone store-front «Fly» by LTD "ITL-KZ"; 2nd place - Nikolay Manuylov. The topic of the project:  Development of a module for equipment identification by reading barcodes on the ANDROID platform for the mechatronics laboratory of A. Baitursynov Kostanay State University. 3rd place - Kirill Stepanov .The topic of the project: Development of the Internet-shop of printed products’ sales for «Pechenkin AA» SP. All participants of the competition were awarded by the diplomas and prizes.
April 27, 2017, the annual open competition for sports programming among students of colleges was held at the software department. Six educational institutions took part in the forum: Kostanay Polytechnic College, Lisakovsk Technical College, Kostanay Construction College, KInEU College, Kostanay Industrial and Pedagogical College and Zhytikara Polytechnic College. The guest of the event was Evgeniy Zhukovskiy, deputy director of “Profi Escort”. The participants were awarded certificates, the winners of the Olympiad were: 1st place - Tasbolat Tulegenov (Kostanay Polytechnic College); 2nd place – Ruslan Naurzalinov (KInEU College); 3rd place - Maxim Lukyanov (Kostanay Industrial and Pedagogical College).
The meeting of academic teaching staff and students of HEI, which was devoted to the Message of the President of RK N.A.Nazarbayev to people of Kazakhstan “Third modernization of Kazakhstan: global competitiveness”. The doctor of economics, professor S.M.Zhiyentayev was a moderator of the meeting. During the meeting, doctor of economics, professor S.M.Zhiyentayev, candidate of economic sciences, head teacher of economic department S.U.Turezhanov, candidate of philosophical sciences, and head teacher of philosophy department D.A.Kacheyev made presentations. The problems and prospects of Kazakhstan’s economy modernization, social and economic conditions of formation of mini-cluster production of the agroindustrial complex, issues about conflicts and ways of solution were discussed on the meeting. This event has caused great interest at students as well as teachers. Students took active part in the discussion of the topic and had asked interested questions. Total numbers of listeners were more than 100 individuals.
