At present A. Baitursynov Kostanay State University is one of the biggest regional universities in Kazakhstan. It is a leading educational, scientific, methodological and cultural centre of the Northern region. There are seven faculties in the university and the educational process is based on a three-level system – Bachelor – Master – Doctorate PhD. 

There are 6 buildings in the university with necessary classrooms, modern laboratories, workrooms, gyms, assembly halls, a recreation complex, cafes and museums. It is symbolic that the main building of the university, the monument, the street and A. Baitursynov square are in the picturesque area in the very centre of the city, which creates a unique architectural ensemble. Nowadays all important university, city and regional events are held on A. Baitursynov square.

In December 2006 new scientific library – information–education centre “Knowledge centre – “Bilim ortalygy” was opened. It is equipped with all necessary modern facilities

The basis of informational infrastructure of the university is a large computer park and a telecommunication complex – an integrated corporate telecommunications network. Management of the main processes of the university is automated. Internal information and education portal gives the opportunity to access all informational resources from any computer or terminal within the network, which creates necessary conditions for studying and scientific research. 

To conduct research and for the purpose of its commercialization innovative Science and Innovation Center and the Office of Commercialization were created.

Particularly noteworthy is modern sports complex of the university with sports, fitness and wrestling rooms, and other sports facilities, equipped with modern exercise equipment. In 2011 a new sports complex was launched. It has a gym which meets the requirements and  norms of international meetings and open football field with artificial turf.

The infrastructure also includes the cafe and coffee shops in the buildings , the Center of the primary health care with a first-aid post in the buildings, the Museum of the University complex . The university has two modern dormitories.
