Student self-government

Student self-government of engineering faculty has been formed to help students to engage them in the activities and clubs of the university, to develop initiative and independence of students, improve accountability for the quality of knowledge and social behavior of future specialists.

The structure of Student self-government:

• University level - Youth Committee;

• Faculty level - student dean's office.

The formation of student self-government is one of the methods of preparation of future directors of enterprises and organizations. Student Self-Government is initiative and independent and responsible student activities to address vital issues for the organization of learning process, social life and leisure. Student self-government is an element of the overall management system of educational process at the University, and stands for students` interests and  needs.

Under the system of student self-government at the University the complex mechanism is understood that allows students to participate in university management and the organization of its life  through peer interactive student self-government of academic groups, faculties, hostels, student interest organizations, circles, sections, etc.

The Deputy Dean of the Faculty responsible for extra curriculum activity Zhantugulov Talgat Zhaksubaevich says:

"The most important role in student self-government should belong to academic groups, the management structure of which is determined by the members of the group, ensuring the active participation of each student in the system of government in the group. This is the new meaning of student self- government in high schools of Kazakhstan. Student Council of the Faculty makes constructive suggestions for the improvement of the educational process, monitors progress of students and their performance and violation of university regulations and procedures, struggling with such things as cheating on exams and corruption."

The Student Dean of the Faculty Toleubaev Askhat thinks student self-government provides  experience of youth, sense of responsibility:

"From personal experience I can say that when a person takes part in university life , you gain a sense of ownership of the university, society and yourself, learn to set really important goals and objectives, plan to achieve them and take responsibility for the final result. Gradually, students form the ability to independently identify the problem and solve it."
