Graduates of 5B050500 - Regional studies are assigned an academic degree of a Bachelor of Social Science 5B050500 - Regional Studies .

Qualification characteristics

The sphere of professional activity of a specialty is : a regional system of international relations, the activities of international organizations and associations, problems and trends in the development of world politics and economy in the regions of the world , issues of national security of the Republic of Kazakhstan and other countries in order to develop sound practical advice on the activities of various governmental organizations of the Republic of Kazakhstan , working in the field of foreign relations , educational activities .

The objects of professional activity of graduates are : regional policy, regional economic processes , internal and external policies of states , international organizations, which can have a significant impact on the world events , global and regional processes in the modern world , local authorities , businesses , management and record keeping .

Objects of professional activity are

features of the regional policy of the region under study ;
foreign and domestic priorities in the region of specialization;
partnerships between States in the framework of international organizations;
mechanisms of interaction in the framework of regional policy ;
political regime , economic and social development of the region;
Public authorities and supranational institutions .

A Bachelor of Social Science must be competent in all matters related to the basic doctrines in political , legal and social and economic sciences , be able to use the methods of these sciences in various professional and social activities , to be able to self-train on completion of the training program , to expand the knowledge on the basis of information and educational technologies , be prepared methodically and psychologically to change the direction and the nature of the professional activities.

The structure of the educational program

The structure of the educational program is determined by the model curriculum , syllabus and elective courses directory .

General subjects - total 33 credits , compulsory component - 33 . As a result of the study of the subjects of this cycle students should know the basic provisions of Kazakhstan history , philosophy , ecology, and other social and humanitarian disciplines, have the commands of the Kazakh and Russian languages, have computer skills as a means of control , work with software tools with the general purpose to use information obtained of global computer networks .

Basic disciplines - total credits - 64, compulsory component - 20 , component of choice - 44. As a result of the study of this cycle a student should know the basic provisions of the history of international relations , the introduction of regional studies, international and regional organizations , have the basic knowledge needed for the study of professional disciplines .

Majors - total 32 credits , compulsory component - 5 , a component of choice - 27. As a result of the study subjects of this cycle students must acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to carry out all types of professional activity in the field of regional policy and management.

During the course of training professional practices are provided.

Educational Practice - 2 credits. Target of Practice : Basing on the development of modern foreign policy of the state to introduce the work of local authorities, various non-governmental organizations, etc. with the aim to create students' picture of the state of affairs in this area. Place of practice : cultural centers, international nongovernmental organizations , information ananalytical and scientific research centers , educational organizations , village and district governorates .

Manufacturing Practice - 2 credits. Target of practice for the students to learn the activities of various departments, state and international organizations, gain the experience on the implementation of the main production processes at the facilities of practice. Place of practice :Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan , governmental bodies and agencies of the Republic of Kazakhstan , international missions of international organizations (UN, OSCE ) , cultural centers , multinational companies and foreign commercial organizations , information, analytical and research centers , international nongovernmental organizations and private sector enterprises .

Pre-diploma practice - 2 credits. Target Practice - preparation and writing of the thesis ( project).

Academic Calendar contains the calendar of theoretical training , examinations , certifications, professional practices , days off ( vacation and holiday).
