Translation in the field of professional communication

 

 

 

The study of given program’s discipline will allow students to study the problems of translation of narrowly special texts in verbal and written forms.

 

 

 

 

After finishing the study discipline of the educational program "Translation in the field of professional communication" students must:

To Know and understand:

  • Basic principles of the theory and practice of translation, language theory, cross-cultural communication;
  • Mentality, traditions and customs of native speaking people;
  • The scope of cross-cultural communication in general and the culture of countries which are cooperate in the process of translation;
  • The scope of interpersonal contacts between representatives of different languages ​​and cultures, especially their behavior in different communicative situations.

To be able to:

  • use the foreign language as a communication tool and possess all kinds of speech activity, implementing oral and written forms of communication (speaking, listening, reading, writing) in situations of formal and informal communication;
  • Provide translation and interpretation services, to use in their activity all kinds of translation transformations (transposition, substitution, addition, omission, differentiation, specification, generalization of values, etc.);
  • use modern factual knowledge of social, political, and culturological character of country;
  • perform the different types of translation.

To possess:

  • Two foreign languages;
  • The official language of the Republic of Kazakhstan;
  • Systematic knowledge of world outlook temper;
  • Methods of cultural, geographic and social mobility

Basic disciplines

Religion studies -1 credit

Prerequisites: The study of discipline "religion studies" presupposes a knowledge of the history of Kazakhstan, philosophy, natural history, anatomy, physiology, chemistry, and physics.

Course Outline: This course allows mastering the course of political science, sociology, psychology, Kazakh and Russian literature, the history of the ancient world. Religion as a subject and object of religion studies course, the emergence of religion, the structure and content of religion as a phenomenon, the specificity of the religious system of the ancient East and the Ancient World, Tengrianism, as an early form of religious consciousness. Buddhism, Christianity and its origin and nature. Bible, the main flows of Christianity and Islam. Quran, Sunnah, Shariah.

The course of discipline "religion studies" gives an idea of ​​the content of the system and the role of religion in society, and world confessions.
Post requisites: Knowledge of "religious studies" allows mastering the course of political science, sociology, psychology, Kazakh and Russian literature, the history of the ancient world.

Course Outline: Discipline "Basic Foreign Language (Level A1, A2)," focuses on the development of students' phonetic, grammatical and lexical skills allowing them to  freely converse on the different topics and build monologic utterance. This course introduces students to the basics of country, allowing to navigate in English communicative culture, join in cross cultural communication.

Introduction to linguistics and translation studies-3 credits

Prerequisites: Basic FL

Course Outline: Discipline forms stock of factual knowledge for further independent study of the linguistic literature and introduces the methodology and methods of analysis of linguistic facts.

Practice on professional communication culture - 2 credits

Prerequisites: Basic FL (A1, A2, B1)

Course Outline: discipline is obligatory and contributes to the further development of communicative and intercultural competences of students level B2 and the development of cultural and appropriate strategy and tactics of verbal communication in professional situations of future-oriented interpreter.

Practical phonetics and listening - 3 credits

Prerequisites: Basic foreign language

Course Outline: The structure of the vocal apparatus, the specifics of the phonetic system of the target language, the concept of the phoneme, the principles of classification of vowels and consonants, exercises on articulation of each vowel and consonants of target language, the reading rules, accentual-syllabic structure of the sounding word, voice intonation and its components depending on the purpose statement, the model of oral-verbal communication, prosodic units

Paperwork in the Kazakh Language - 1 credit

Prerequisites: Kazakh language

Course Outline: Paperwork management. General rules for training, execution, management structure of documents. Document classification: Organizational documents, administrative documents; information and reference documents. drafting of different types of documents (description; order; contract; labor contract; briefing paper, etc.), filling out forms and patterns on topics, the development of the correct translation’s skills in two languages​​, good filling of samples of business papers in the state language.

Prerequisites: Basic FL, Conversational practice

Course Outline: a foreign language acquisition as a means of business communication in oral and written forms. Formation of special skills which are need to implement the communicative intentions in professional activities in the field of cross cultural communication, exercises to familiarity with the official-business style to study a foreign language, assimilation of the rules of business etiquette and intercultural communication. Learning the basics of business communication in oral and written forms in typical situations: acquaintance, talking on the phone, business trip, business meeting business negotiations and banking affairs, discuss and sign the contract, business correspondence.
