Distance Learning Center is the division of the University that provides organizational support for distance learning, implements to the educational process new educational technologies on the basis of computer technology with the use of modern telecommunication and information facilities.

Implementation of distant educational technologies in A.Baitursynov KSU is realized on the basis of the Ministry of Education and  Science of KZ order of April 7, 2010 No. 157 and the university administration decision of May 18, 2010. Training is carried out with the use of network technology for all specialties with a remote learning form for school of law and economics. The system of Distance Learning Moodle is implemented to ensure network technology, Information and educational portal (Web portal) of Distance Learning Center is based on it.

The portal contains online courses for each of the studied discipline. Students can browse educational and methodological materials in studied disciplines, do control tasks and test items, browse teachers’ assessments and comments at any time.

Unlike the traditional form of instruction by correspondence the usage of distant technologies permits to reduce student’s tenure at the university, but at the same time it increases the opportunity to interact with teachers via the Internet: on forums and in distance learning systems chats, as well as e-mail, Skype, Mail.Ru Agent. Students come to the university twice a year to have the training course and examinations which last no longer than 10-12 days.

Distant educational technologies are training technologies which are realized using information and telecommunication tools in the mediated (distantly) or not fully mediated interaction of the student and the teacher.

Network technology is a technology which includes the provision of teaching materials, forms of interaction of the student and the teacher and with other students, as well as the administration of  educational process based on the Internet use.

Distance learning system Moodle is designed to provide training in Off-line and On-line modes in a network environment using Internet technologies. The software package «Moodle» is a specialized system   of education processes  management. The system provides a variety of training procedures, combinations of which can provide effective training at an educational institution.

Data and educational portal (Web portal) is anorganized and interconnected information resources and the Internet services set having administrative, academic, educational and methodological information which makes  it possible to organize the educational process according to distance learning technologies.

The tutor is a consultant who directs and supervises the students’ independent work in distance learning technologies and monitors the execution of the individual curriculum.

Content is information fill; that is texts,graphics, multimedia and other significant information content of the site.
