Founder of the museum
The founder of the Entomological Museum is academician of ANS of RK, Doctor of Biological Sciences Alexander Izosimovich Protsenko. Before 1986, A.I.Protsenko worked in Kyrgyzstan, where he first described 6 new species of insects, has published two books about the scarab (Scarabaeidae) beetles.
A.I.Protsenko’s academic research laid the foundation for a new direction in search of microbiologists of natural foci of diseases of farm animals, connected with transporting infections by coprophagous beetles. These studies are of practical value to agricultural production, where animal husbandry is the leading branch of agriculture. The analysis of the material collected by vertical zones allowed doctor A.I.Protsenko to make a major discovery, showing the role of scarab beetles as carriers of infectious diseases of animals contributing to the emergence of epizootic diseases.

This discovery is of value to science and the national economy, which was confirmed by the leading scientists of the Institute of Zoology of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR. Assessing the significance of the research carried out in Kyrgyzstan, alpine lakes, glaciers and mountain pass were named in honour of Doctor of Science A.I.Protsenko (Fig. 1, 2,3,4).
Symbolically, the scientist, who devoted his entire working life to entomology, founded a museum of insects, passed away on May 18, 2004 on the International Museum Day. But the work of the scientist lives and continues.
