Necropolis Bestamak
The monument has been investigated since 1991, during this period 170 burial pits and ritual structures have been excavated and studied. The study of these objects has shown that Bestamak cemetery was used by the ancient inhabitants of Torgay deflection for a great length of time from the Stone Age to the Middle Ages.
The uniqueness of Bestamak burial ground is that it is the first and still the only burial ground in northern Kazakhstan, the proceedings of which are presented by extensive archaeological framework: from the Stone Age to the Middle Ages. This makes it possible to trace the features of a funeral ceremony in a cemetery in different archaeological eras left behind by the populations that successively replaced each other. |
