Department of practical linguistics was organized by the order of rector of A.Baitursynov KSU on the basis of the decision of the Academic Council of the University from 15.06.2009.

For many years the Department was headed by candidate of pedagogical Sciences, Professor Nurseitova A.K. a graduate of Kostanai pedagogical Institute in 1973, the Lenin scholarship holder. 2011 the Department was headed by Zhursinalina G.K., candidate of philological Sciences.

The graduate of Poltava pedagogical Institute Akhmetova F.K. worked for many years as an assistant of the Department of Russian language and literature, and then practical linguistics.

Members of the Department are actively involved into the process of developing a complex research «Methodics of teaching the Kazakh and Russian languages at university». During 2009-2012 years 37 educational and methodical manuals and 10 of electronic textbooks were released. The winner of Republican competition «the Best teacher of the state language» Irgizbaeva K.B. works at the Department

Creative potential and active civil position of the Department staff is especially evident in holding conferences, seminars and roundtable sessions devoted to the learning of the state language. Thus, the lecturers of the Department Abilbekova B.T., Altybaeva A.T., Sarmanova F.T., Irgizbaeva K.B. held a workshop for teachers of the Kazakh language in the city and region «Қазақ тілі мен әдебиетін оқытудың инновациялық әдіс-тәсілдері». There are free courses of learning and improving state language for teachers and employees of University organized By the Department. Zhursinalina G.K. and Abilbekova B.T. at the Institute of professional development and retraining make a great contribution to transfer paperwork into the state language and are active advocates of the state language in the city and region.

The Department staff constantly develops its professional skills by participating in international and national conferences and seminars. Their pedagogical activity is marked by diplomas and certificates.

Every year the teachers actively participate in the sport events held at the University for employees and get prize-winning places.

The Department has highly qualified teaching staff, which includes candidate of philological Sciences, candidate of pedagogical Sciences, 2 associate professors, 8 masters of Philology, senior lecturers and teachers.
