Scientific activity of teachers of the Department of Foreign Languages ​​has two main directions:

1. Conducting scientific research on linguistics and didactics, on the questions of the theory, methodology and didactics of translation by scholars, doctoral students, masters and students of KSU.

2. Implementation of research results into practice teaching, the work of the educational, social and other organizations.

The department has 3 groups of creative scientists and university teachers who are responsible:

- For the organization and conducting the permanent scientific seminar for teachers of language departments "Problems of modern didactics";

- For the work of "School of the young researchers and linguists";

- For the activities of students' scientific societies:

1. "Lexical and grammatical problems of translation" (supervisor - Savoyskaya N.P, PhD, Associate Professor)

2. "Contemporary of cognitive linguistics" (supervisor- Mongileva N.V, PhD).

Conceptual features of new educational technologies is the activity of communicative and cognitive approach  which are used at the Department of Foreign Philology . In the process of language learning as a means of communication the behavior, traditions and culture of the target language are carried out.
