History
The Department of Economics and Organization of Agricultural Production of Kostanai Branch of Tselinograd Agricultural Institute trained the first educated specialists in economics. In 1975 at the request of Board of Directors of the branch supported by the Regional Department of Agriculture (S.N.Strukov), the rector of Kostanai Agricultural Institute (M.A.Gendelman) allowed to accept the first 50 “Economics and Organization of Agricultural Production” students of full-time training (52 students were accepted).
The need for more specialists in agriculture led to such decision. The Candidate of Science I.Y.Petrenko who worked earlier as a head of sovkhoz was appointed as the head of the Department of Economics and Agricultural Production, associate professors E.R.Vitun, R.Z.Belyanina, P.I.Koval, distant postgraduate student A.I.Stogov, senior lecturers L.I.Goppe, I.V.Izmer, M.A.Mirmanova came to the department. A.A.Obraz who worked as a main specialist of the Regional Department of Agriculture was responsible for academic work. In 1978 head of the Breeding Area of the Regional Department of Agriculture, Candidate of Science A.I.Hmelevsky came to the department.
In 1977, due to an increase in the number of students the Faculty of Economics was organized. The senior lecturer, candidate of Science Vitun Emelyan Romanovich was appointed as the first dean, he later worked as rector of the Agricultural Institute of Grodnen Agricultural Institute.
On June 13, 1978 on the basis of Kostanai branch of Tselinograd Agricultural Institute, by the decree of the USSR Council of Ministers Kustanai Agricultural Institute was established. After the reorganization of the branch into an independent institute the following departments were organized: Accounting and Computer Engineering in Agriculture (Head of the Department is K.Zh. Japarov, Candidate of Science, Associate Professor), Organization and Management of Agricultural Production (Head of the Department is A.A.Obraz, Candidate of Science, Associate Professor).
Since August 1978, there were two specialties of faculty of full-time and part-time learning at the faculty of Economics. In 1980, the institute had the first graduates (52 students) of "Economics and Organization of Agricultural Production" specialty. Every year until 1991, the Faculty of Economics of Kustanai Agricultural Institute had 150 full-time and 100 part-time graduates.
The first graduates work in many institutions and organizations. Students are now working in many institutions and organizations. Many of them have become leading specialists and heads of various departments of the national economy. Doctor of Economics, Professor O. V. Mishulina is still working at the university, Candidate of Science, Professor R.A. Pritula is the Dean of the Faculty of Economics at M.Dulatov Kostanai Engineering and Economics University, Candidate of Science, Associate Professor E.V. Vasilchuk teaches at the university at the Department of Accounting and Audit, the senior lecturer I.I. Gorelova has worked at the Department of Economics and Management for many years.

The teaching staff of the Faculty of Economics
The history of the Faculty of Economics of A.Baitursynov Kostanai State University begins in 1992. After the reorganization of Pedagogical Institute of the University a number of new specilalities were formed including economics. These specialities were on the base of the Faculty of Mathematics which was later reorganized into the Faculty of Economics and Mathematics under the direction of the Candidate of Science, Associate Professor F.F. Mayer, who held this position until September 2001. Admission of students was based on the following specialities: "Business and Management", "Marketing and Commerce."
The Department of Economics and Management, headed by Candidate of Science, Associate Professor, B.K. Zhumanova provided the first speciality. The Department of Marketing and Commerce provided the second specialty, the head of which was the Candidate of Science T.K. Kulubekov, who later became a Doctor of Science.
In 2000 the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan from 14.02.2000, № 236 adopted a decree attach Kostanai Agricultural Institute to the state university. In this regard, there was a structural reorganization: the Economics faculties of the two universities formed the Faculty of Economics at A.Baitursynov Kostanai State University. The Dean of the faculty was Candidate of Science, professor F.F.Mayer.
The formation of the country's new economic system and certain reforms aroused students’ interest to the Faculty of Economics. Every year the number of students increased, the faculty expanded, there were changes in the structure and name of the department. Since September 2001 the Faculty offers a new specialty "Finance and Credit". The Head of the Department was Candidate of Science, Associate Professor B.B. Kussainov.
In September 2001 the Faculty of Economics was reorganized into the Institute of Economics and Finance, Doctor of Science S.M.Zhientayev was appointed as a director of the Institute who held this position until 2006. There were eight departments: Economic Theory (Heads of the Department K.K. Baygabulova, A.R.Kazairova, A.P. Koval), Management and Marketing (Heads of the Department K.K.Kulubek, A.A. Obraz), Accounting and Audit (Heads of the Department K.Zh. Zhaparov, N.A.Mukimbekova), Economic Cybernetics (N.N.Vardiashvili), Finance (K.K. Dzhukeeva, Z.K. Yessimkhanova, A.I. Abayeva), Economics (Head of the Department B.K.Zhumanova), Agricultural Business Organization (Head of the Department M.B.Zhaheeva), Foreign Languages (Head of the Department V.P. Kassyanova). From 2006 to 2009 the director of the Institute of Economics and Finance of the University was Candidate of Science, Associate professor A.I. Doshchanova.
Today the Faculty of Economics trains more than 1,000 students, 58% are full time students. There are 4 departments: Department of Economics and Management (Head of the Department is S.M.Zhientayev) - 5B050600-Economics, 5B051000- State and Local Administration, Master's specialty 6M050600- Economics, Department of Management and Marketing (Head of the Department is O.V. Mishulina) – 5B05070- Management, 5V051100 marketing and Master's degree in a specialty 6M050700-Management, Department of Accounting and Audit (Head of the Department is E.I. Ladanenko) - 5B050800- Accounting and Audit, Department of Finance and Banking (Head of the Department is D.S. Kenzhebekova) – 5B050900-Finance.
Kabdrakhmetov Nurlan Ismagulovich is the Dean of the Faculty of Economics since 2009. He has great experience as a supervisor and manager, earlier he held various managerial positions in the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Ministry of Justice, as well as the head of the Department of operational-search activity at Law Institute of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kazakhstan. Nurlan Ismagulovich (a graduate of the Faculty of Economics of Tselinograd Agricultural Institute) is a Colonel of Justice, an honourable worker of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the USSR, the honourable worker of the Department on struggle against plunders of the socialist property of the Kazakh SSR.
The strategic objective of the faculty is to provide high quality education and to create conditions for the development and self-realization of students capable of contributing to the development of the Kazakhstan society.
One of the priorities of the faculty is the development of science, participation in the competition for grant funding of research announced by the Committee of Science of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The level of the faculty can be judged by the achievements of students and alumni. The range of business and organizations in which they work is very broad: state administration (tax and customs committees, akimats of all levels, small, medium and large businesses, consulting firms, etc.). Our graduates are now successfully working in a number of organizations in Kostanai, Astana, Almaty, Kokshetau and other cities of Kazakhstan and abroad (the USA, Germany and other countries).
Many graduates of the Faculty of Economics are in state administration, law enforcement agencies as well as scientific institutions and business enterprises of different levels:

Pritula Raisa Alekseevna – Candidate of Science, professor, dean of the Faculty of Economics at M.Dulatov Kostanai Engineering and Economics University.
